The report of 1 October 1915 records visits to the shop of Thomas J Clarke, 75 Parnell Street, by Major John MacBride, followed by William Sheehan, Frank Fahy, Thomas Byrne and George Irvine.

Herbert ‘Barney’ Mellows is observed walking along Dame Street towards College Green, while Seán MacDiarmada and John McGarry are seen together in Sackville Street [O’Connell Street].

JJ Walsh and Thomas J Clarke are noted entering 12 D’Olier Street.

The report concludes with a description of the assembly at 41 Parnell Square of around 80 members of the ‘Sinn Fein Volunteers, 14 of whom carried rifles’ and their march toward Cabra.

The report of 4 October 1915 records visits to the shop of Thomas J Clarke, 75 Parnell Street, on Saturday 2 October by Joseph McGuinness, Thomas Byrne and James J Buggy, followed by Con Colbert and Dr P McCartan, Piaras Béaslaí and TJ Sheehan.

JJ Walsh is observed in his shop at 26 Blessington Street on Saturday 2.

The departure of [James] O’Connor by train to Goolds Cross [County Tipperary] is noted, as is the arrival of Diarmuid Lynch from Cork and Thomas Kenny from Craughwell [County Galway].

On Sunday 3 October, Clarke is visited by Seán T Ó Ceallaigh, John O’Mahony and Joseph McGuinness. Clarke was later seen leaving his Richmond Avenue home in the company of Dr P McCartan. A visit by McCartan to St Mary’s Private Hospital in Eccles Street is noted, followed by his return, in the company of Clarke, to Richmond Avenue.

The departure of Thomas Kenny by train for Ballinasloe is noted.

The report concludes with details of the ‘usual Sunday Suffragette meeting’, held in the Phoenix Park, where it was announced it would be the ‘last outdoor meeting of the Season’.

A meeting is noted in the office of the Irish Volunteers, 2 Dawson Street, between Michael J O’Rahilly and Michael O’Hanrahan. This is followed later in the afternoon by a short meeting between Piaras Béaslaí, Seán MacDiarmada and John McGarry.

Ernest Blythe is observed in Sackville Street [O’Connell Street].

The arrival of Diarmuid Lynch by train to Kingsbridge [Heuston Station] is noted.

The training of 60 members of the Irish Volunteers at 41 Parnell Square is reported.

Details are provided of a meeting of the Union of Democratic Control (Irish Branch) at 18 Wexford Street, which was addressed by Mrs HM Swanwick of the General Council in London.

Copies are included of The Workers’ Republic and a leaflet distributed to households in the ‘out-lying districts’ of Dublin City seeking financial subscriptions for the support of the Irish Volunteers. An annotation on the report states ‘C.S. [Chief Secretary] to see subscription leaflet’.

James Connolly is observed in the company of William O’Leary Curtis in Dame Street.

A meeting in the office of the Irish Volunteers, 2 Dawson Street, is attended by Michael J O’Rahilly, Michael O’Hanrahan and Herbert ‘Barney’ Mellows. Herbert Pim called in later in the day.

The report concludes with details of the assembly at 41 Parnell Square of around 45 members of the ‘Sinn Fein Volunteers’ and their march towards Fairview under the command of Joseph McGuinness. The group were joined by around 30 other members from 25 Parnell Square.

It is noted O’Hurley made his way to Barry’s Hotel, Denmark Street, ‘where he now remains’.
