Your search results will show on the map as a heat map, indicating where your search result populations are, within counties and then DEDs. The legend on the left side indicates how many records of your search relate to the heat map
The right dashboard (also) contains Demographics per area, including Population Pyramid and Religion chart.

The dashboard lists areas in that part of the map including DEDs and then Townlands. Listed areas contain population counts in brackets.

If your search results display these counts, then they are sorted by population, highest to lowest. This is useful to point you towards your likely/probable DEDs and Townlands of interest. Areas listed without population counts (in brackets) mean that they do not have any for your search.
You can always try different or broader searches. Click into a DED and then a Townland for a deeper dive to explore more/further.
You can zoom into the map, all the way to street level. That will display/present the most current map of Ireland back then, which was the 1924 map of Ireland. You may be able to spot some differences in there, compare to the maps of today!
