About us

The National Archives of Ireland collects, preserves, and provides access to Ireland’s public records, ensuring they are available as a resource for all citizens.
We hold over 60 million records documenting many aspects of life in Ireland both pre and post independence. These include the records of the modern Irish state from its foundation. Our work includes preserving records so that current and future generations can access them.
