Collaborations

At the National Archives, we believe collaboration is key to unlocking the full potential of our cultural heritage. By partnering with stakeholders, we can preserve and share Ireland’s rich history more effectively. These collaborations bring together diverse expertise and resources, ensuring our collections are well-maintained and accessible to everyone.

Collaborations are essential in preserving our cultural heritage and ensuring it remains accessible for future generations.

The Council of National Cultural Institutions, established in 1998, exemplifies this collaborative spirit uniting Ireland’s leading cultural institutions. Our involvement in working groups focused on conservation, education, digitisation and the Irish language demonstrates the power of teamwork.

Our participation in European archival cooperation through the European Board of National Archivists, the European Archives Group, and the DLM Forum Foundation showcases the value of international partnerships. These collaborations keep us at the cutting edge of digital record preservation and archival standards.

Projects like the Documents on Irish Foreign Policy and the Conflict Archive on the Internet (CAIN) reflect our dedication to making important historical records accessible. The Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland project allows the public to explore a virtual recreation of the Public Record Office of Ireland, bringing history to life in an exciting new way.

Working with external stakeholders, like the Irish Manuscripts Commission, enhances our ability to contribute to significant publications and projects. These collaborations are essential in preserving our cultural heritage and ensuring it remains accessible for future generations.
